Rome: Vespa among the protagonists of the 1st “Italian Design Day”

Opened on 2 March 2017, at Farnesina, the first “ITALIAN DESIGN DAY” ("First day of Italian Design in the world"), organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and of Tourism and by the Triennale in Milan, in collaboration with the Furniture Show, the Association for Industrial Design and the Agency for foreign promotion and internationalisation of Italian companies.


Attended by the press and the accredited diplomatic corps in Italy, the ceremony was opened by the minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Angelino Alfano, who said: "This initiative is the result of a great team effort between institutions and it involves the major public and private players who represent quality Italian design, the corporate world and the educational sector". A project that is the first ever of its kind, with the organisation of more than 100 events in as many cities all over the world through an important mobilization of the network of Italian Embassies, Consulates and Italian Culture Institutes abroad. "Design is a distinctive mark of Italian excellence, a bridge between cultures and a great driving force of our economy”, the Minister added.


In the Palazzo della Farnesina, where the ceremony was hosted, more than 30 design items were displayed: one of the protagonists was  the brand new (VESPA 946) RED.
