Vespa Racing Sixties

THE GOLDEN AGE OF SPORTING ELEGANCE RETURNS WITH THE VESPA SPRINT AND GTS SUPER VESPA RACING SIXTIES IN A SPECIAL SERIES INSPIRED BY THE RACING WORLD’S MOST CLASSIC AND EVOCATIVE AESTHETIC

The Sixties was a legendary decade in racing and motoring history, with its races in which speed and the thrill of the challenge went hand in hand with elegant, dashing bikes and drivers. And it is that heady mix of sportiness and elegance that inspired the new special series comprising the Vespa Sprint and Vespa GTS Super Racing Sixties. Original new graphics make a stylish statement with yellow paired with green bodywork and red creating a bold contrast against white on the Sprint (50, 125 and 150 cc) and GTS Super (125 and 300 cc), undeniably Vespa’s grittiest models.

A brand-new saddle, gold-coloured wheel rims and matt black detailing are the perfect accents to highlight the elegant, sporty style and provide contrast to the two distinctive new colour combinations. Choose from forest green paired with yellow graphics for a more classic look, or if you’re after a more dynamic, fresh and modern mood, there is a striking red on white version.

The inspiration for the Vespa Racing Sixties series can be found in the “gentlemen riders” who raced in the Sixties, a decade when freedom of expression extended to how you personalised your vehicle. Drivers were filled with a spirit of independence, going to great lengths to assemble the ideal team, select the right races to take part in and choose the perfect look for their bike, especially when it came to colour, graphics and materials, all of which played a fundamental role in those years.

Colours and graphics often had a connection to the rider’s country of origin, or teams would opt for distinctive stylistic flourishes and colours that reflected their character and paid visual homage to the brands that supported them in their quest for victory. And likewise, when it comes to the Vespa Racing Sixties special series, the style choices echo the exploits of those legendary sporting personalities and the events that have become so iconic, such as the Monaco and Monza Grand Prix or the historic Targa Florio endurance race. That said, however, while a trip down memory lane is always to be enjoyed, it’s also important to embrace the spirit of the times, as only Vespa knows how to do.

Which is why the Racing Sixties special series, with its striking new liveries, articulates classic styling with a sporting twist that reflects a more approachable philosophy, rediscovering the qualities and delight of colours, materials and textures in a way that expresses sheer simple grit, softened by a touch of exclusivity in the details.
